Who we are
fixmyecuuk (FixMyECU UK), the trading name of Rytis Preiksa, 16 Chester Road, Chetwynd, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8BN, is the data controller. Contact: fixmyecuuk@gmail.com, 07375 917301.
What we collect
- Contact and job details you give us through the quote form, WhatsApp, phone or email: name, email, phone, return address, vehicle, registration, part numbers, fault description and label photos.
- Module data ("dumps"): when we read your module we make a copy of its memory. It can contain your VIN, immobiliser and key data, coding and the recorded mileage.
- Payment records: we see confirmation of payment from Stripe or PayPal, not your full card details.
- Website: Google Ads cookies (used to measure which adverts lead to quote requests) are set only if you choose Accept on the cookie banner; if you choose Reject, none are set. To change your choice, clear the stored data for this site in your browser. Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To quote for, carry out and return your job, and to handle warranty claims — contract.
- To keep accounts and invoices — legal obligation.
- To keep security-sensitive module data safe and prevent misuse (for example, checking ownership for immobiliser jobs) — legitimate interests.
- We only send marketing if you've separately agreed to it, and you can stop it at any time.
How we handle module data (dumps)
- Dumps are used only for your job. They are never sold, shared or used to program other vehicles.
- They are stored on our bench computer and encrypted backup storage, not on the website or in email.
- We keep the original and donor dumps for 120 days after we return your module, so we can put things right under the warranty. After that they are securely deleted.
- You can ask us to delete them sooner — we'll confirm by email. (If you do, we may need to re-read the module for any later warranty work.)
Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the business: Cloudflare (website hosting), Google (Gmail), WhatsApp / Meta (the quote form opens WhatsApp with your details filled in, and any messages you send us there), Stripe and PayPal (payments), Royal Mail or the courier (return delivery), and eBay if you order there. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK under recognised safeguards. We don't sell personal data.
How long we keep things
- Module dumps: 120 days after return, then deleted.
- Quote enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months.
- Invoices and job records: 6 years (tax law).
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to move it. Email fixmyecuuk@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
