Engine ECU Cloning by Post UK

Your car's engine ECU has failed, but the data inside it — immobiliser, VIN, coding and adaptations — is usually still readable. We read your original unit on the bench and write that data into a matching used or replacement ECU, so in most cases it fits and starts without dealer programming.

from £52.95Free tracked return postage to a UK address is included in the price. Pay now or when the work is done — full refund if we can’t do it.

What it is

ECU cloning (also called ECU data transfer) copies the complete memory of your original engine control unit — internal flash, EEPROM and any external memory chip the unit uses — into a donor ECU with the same hardware and software. The donor then behaves as your original. We check both units match before writing anything, and read back the written data to confirm it is identical to your original.

What to send

How it works

  1. Send us a photo of the label — use the quote form or WhatsApp. We check the part number and send you a written quote: the price and what to send.
  2. Book and post — reply to the quote to book (or pay now on the service page), then post your module(s) (for a clone: your original and a donor with the same part number) as shown in How to post your module. Drop-off in Newport (TF10) by appointment.
  3. Bench read and assessment — we read and back up the original first. If the job can't be done, we tell you and send your module(s) back with no charge for the work.
  4. We do the job — and verify the result on the bench.
  5. You pay — if you haven't paid up front, we send you a secure card / PayPal payment link once the work is done (or you can use our Pay page). If the job can't be done, an up-front payment is refunded in full.
  6. Tracked return — as soon as it's paid, your module goes back by tracked post.

FAQ

Will the car start after fitting the cloned ECU?

In most cases, yes: a correct clone of a matching unit is plug and play. Some platforms need a short relearn (throttle, idle or injector values) after fitting, and we tell you before you post if yours does.

Does the donor have to be the same part number?

Yes. The donor must match the original's part number and hardware. Software can sometimes differ, but we confirm by part number before you post.

What if my original ECU can't be read?

If the chip can't be read we tell you and return your units, with no charge for the work. Where the fault is on the board (power supply, a burnt driver) we may be able to repair it first — we'll quote that separately.
