Bosch EDC17CP55 appears with a TC1796 on Jaguar and a TC1793 on Land Rover; both are read on the bench or in boot mode.
Can the Bosch Jaguar Land Rover ECU TC1796 TC1793 Bench EDC17CP55 be cloned?
Yes — this is a service we list for the part numbers below. Your original's data is transferred into a matching donor with the same part number. We confirm your exact label before you post, and you can pay now or when the work is done.
Bosch EDC17/MED17 and the newer MD1/MG1 engine ECUs are used across most European makes and many Asian ones. Their immobiliser and vehicle data sit inside the ECU's microcontroller, so a second-hand unit only works once your original's data has been transferred into it. Some of these units must be opened and read in boot or bench mode; we confirm the route from your part number first.
Which part numbers and versions are covered?
- EDC17CP55
Processor: TC1796, TC1793 (the chip on the board, not a part number)
Makes: Jaguar, Land Rover

More questions
Will the car start after fitting the cloned ECU?
In most cases, yes: a correct clone of a matching unit is plug and play. Some platforms need a short relearn (throttle, idle or injector values) after fitting, and we tell you before you post if yours does.
Does the donor have to be the same part number?
Yes. The donor must match the original's part number and hardware. Software can sometimes differ, but we confirm by part number before you post.
What if my original ECU can't be read?
If the chip can't be read we tell you and return your units, with no charge for the work. Where the fault is on the board (power supply, a burnt driver) we may be able to repair it first — we'll quote that separately.
